Sue Ann Martin, Ph.D. Sue Ann Martin holds a BA in Political Science from Wayne State University, an MA in Radio and Television from Wayne State University, and a Ph.D. in Theatre and Speech from Wayne State University. She worked extensively in radio and television as a co-producer at ABC's WXYZ-TV in Detroit before taking a faculty position at the University of Windsor in 1971. Her early work revolved around Voice and Interpretation in the acting program. She went on to develop Canada's Drama and Education degree program. Her first publications were in the area of developmental drama with learning disabled children. She has published 4 books and numerous articles on creativity in children. Sue Ann won the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations Award for Teaching Excellence in 1981. As Director of the School of Dramatic Art, Sue Ann developed a Music Theatre Degree, a system of guest artist residences, and published many articles on the childhood roots of adult performing artists. Her interviews and publications include conversations with Donald Sutherland, Martin Sheen, Martha Henry, and Peter Ustinov among others.  Sue Ann was elected Dean at the University of Windsor in 1991, remaining in that position until joining Central Michigan University in 1997.  Sue Ann’s career has been defined and shaped by a dedication to the arts and humanities in both curriculum development and civic engagement.  She is the current and founding Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts at Central Michigan University.  She has designed a number of interdisciplinary degree programs including Museum Studies, Media Production and Design, Music Theatre, as well as seminal courses in Culture and Ideas.  She is currently on the Board of the Michigan Humanities Council and the Executive Producer of the award winning Michigan Story Festival. Sue Ann continues to be interested in the oral tradition, the creative process, and interdisciplinary education. She hosts a weekly arts events news show, "Arts Almanac," on CMU Public Radio.  Arts Almanac awarded a Broadcast Merit Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.  She also co-hosts “Children’s Books…..the Dean’s List,” which is also aired on CMU Public Radio.
