The Minor in Media Design, Production, and Technology has been created by the College of Communication and Fine Arts to address the needs of a group of rapidly evolving and flexible disciplines. Students completing this minor and a complementary major will be qualified for employment in the rapidly growing fields of visual media, including graphic design, web design, publications design, and multimedia design. This is an interdisciplinary minor and combines elements of CMU's existing programs in Art, Journalism, Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, Computer Science, and Industrial Engineering Technology.

Media technologies are, and will continue to be, in great demand as computer applications replace the work formerly done by other methods. There is a need for well-trained individuals who understand the skills necessary to perform these functions. It is the goal of this minor to prepare students for careers in these exciting new disciplines.
