Nomination Criteria for Journalism Hall of Fame

1. Alumni are eligible 10 years after graduation from Central Michigan University.  Faculty and staff are eligible upon retirement. Those who leave CMU for other professional pursuits must have worked in the department at least two years.  Honorary induction status may be awarded to special friends and supporters based on ongoing outstanding service and commitment to the Department of Journalism and/or student publications.

2. Candidates must have majored or minored in journalism, worked for student publications or served as a faculty or staff member in the Department of Journalism.

3. Candidates must have demonstrated distinguished service to the journalism profession (in the core concentrations of news editorial, public relations, advertising and photography), must have made extraordinary contributions to their communities and must have upheld the ethics and standards that are part of the CMU journalism heritage.

4. Nominations require a minimum of three but no more than five letters of support attesting to the candidate's accomplishments.

5.Other relevant documentation, including clips and works samples, may be included in the nomination packet.

6. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee is composed of the Chair of the Journalism Department, a current Journalism Department faculty member, the Director of Student Media, two CMU journalism alumni and two CMU Journalism Hall of Fame inductees.

7. Administration of the CMU Journalism Hall of Fame shall fall under the aegis of a committee consisting of the CMU Department of Journalism, the current student media director and a member of the CMU Journalism Alumni Advisory Board.
